If you have a large backyard or deck, it’s a great place to relax outside and enjoy the weather. It’s also a great spot for an outdoor fireplace or fire pit. Both options are very different from each other though. Before you install one or the other, it’s important to determine which one is right for you and your space. Here a some things you should keep in mind:
Fire pits
A fire pit provides a great interactive experience and can entertain a large group of guests. You can set up seating around the fire pit so that everyone has access to play with the flames or roast their favorite snacks. The size of the fire isn’t as constrained as it is in a fireplace and it doesn’t need as much maintenance either, but you’ll have to deal with a smoke column being pushed around by the wind.
Outdoor fireplaces
This fire feature allows you to sit back and relax without too much effort involved on your part. Depending on its style and placement, a fireplace can also be a tasteful statement piece to your deck or yard. Likewise if your fireplace is located under a covered pavilion, you can use it in any type of weather.
Your choice
Choosing between a fireplace and fire pit ultimately comes down to your personal tastes and the space available in your backyard. An outdoor fireplace might be the way to go if you’re more interested in the relaxing ambiance but a fire pit could be better if you want more of a campfire feel. Or you might find you want to incorporate both!
